This menu item type is used to display all articles set to be published on the front page in blog layout format. Open the New Electronics Among Cameras And Cell Phones menu item in edit mode. From the Menu Item Type combo box, select the Featured Articles menu item type option. The meanings of the rest of the fields are the same as earlier—and you also don’t need to enter anything extra. Keep the default settings as they are and click the Save & Close icon to save the selected menu item type (see Figure 7-40).
Before opening the Joomla web site to see the effect of this menu item type, you need to set the articles in both the Camera and Cell Phone categories to be published on the front page. Open the Article Manager by selecting Content ➤ Article Manager, and you’ll find the articles in the Camera and Cell Phone categories, as shown in Figure 7-41. Because none of them is a featured article, none will be displayed on the front page.
To make these articles display on the front page, select the star icon of each article under the Status column. The white star will convert into a golden star to confirm that it is converted into a featured article, as shown in Figure 7-42.
Now open the browser window to see the Joomla web site. You’ll find that all the articles of the Camera and Cell Phone categories are displayed in blog layout format, as shown in Figure 7-43.
Because there are more articles than could be displayed on one page, links appear at the end, each pointing to an article that couldn’t be displayed. Also, the links Start, Prev, 1, 2, 3, Next, and End appear at the bottom for navigating to the desired page. For example, if you select the 2 link, you’ll see the articles on page 2, as shown in Figure 7-44.
