Working with the User Manager in Joomla

The User Manager provides tools for creating, viewing, editing, and deleting users for your web site. Users play a major role in managing contents of a web site. You can perform several functions with the User Manager, including these:

  • Seeing whether a user is logged in or not
  • Blocking a user from logging into your site
  • Seeing the last time a particular user visited your site
  • Changing the state of a user from Logged In to Logged Out

Different Types of User Groups

The users you create can be assigned to a group, depending on what you want them to be able to do on your web site. A newly created user is assigned a group to designate the user’s access level. The user groups in Joomla are predefined, and you cannot create your own groups. Table 5-1 describes all the available groups.
